Labuschagne Left Out from Australian ODI Team Against Team India

Labuschagne finds himself omitted from the three-game ODI series facing India, with high-performing Queensland colleague Matt Renshaw receiving a unexpected inclusion.

Recent Form Lead to Omission

The right-hander was left out from the ODI side following being dismissed for one in both of his innings during the recent series against South Africa in August. The right-hander has a best innings of 47 in his most recent ten ODI batting appearances.

Labuschagne has featured in 68 ODIs and scored 1,871 ODI runs at an batting average of 34.64 runs per dismissal, but will now work towards a return to the Test side in time for the Ashes starting in Perth on 21 November.

Surprise Inclusion and Team Changes

Recent performances suggest of a improvement in form with a score of 160 for Queensland in the domestic first-class competition this week, while Renshaw scored a hundred for the Bulls in the identical match against Tasmania.

Australia have announced a squad for only the first two T20s against India with the Ashes on the horizon, although Glenn Maxwell will sit out the five-game T20 series due to a wrist injury suffered in New Zealand.

Mitch Marsh will lead both the ODI and T20 teams after scoring a hundred in the final game against New Zealand to seal a two-nil victory last week.

“We have named a squad for the ODI series and initial two matches of the T20 series as there will be rotation through the later stages of the series as players get ready for the summer through domestic first-class matches,” Australia chair of selectors George Bailey said.
“The bulk of the T20 squad will remain together as it’s an important period in the preparation for the World Cup next year, however we are aiming to find equilibrium to ensure we simultaneously prepare specific players for the Test matches ahead.”

Australia’s three-game ODI series against India commences on October 19 in Perth, before the opponents play five T20 internationals from 29 October.
